Sorapis Lake
Unique scenery and challeging path to discover one of the hidden jewels of the Dolomites.
We have to leave early in the morning for this stunning hike as the Passo tre Croci, where the hike starts lies behind the Misurina lake.
At the Passo Tre croci the path begins behind the chapel and takes us initially through a foresto on a comfortable path Nr. 213. As we gain elevation we arrive at the Plateau Tardeiba, where we leave the forest and meadows and we can admire the majestic and awe-inspiring vertical walls.
Now you can choose between two possibilities. You can take the path Nr. 216 to the Marcuoira Scharte but we decide for the path Nr. 223. One exposted strech is secured by iron cables. Anyway you arrive at the Cadin del Laudo. Now you have arrived the highest point of this excursion with its wonderful amazing view to the Misurina lake and in the Dolomites.
Our mental an phyisical efforts will all be paid off as we see the real highlight of the day: the Sorapis Lake, that peacefully lies in the middle of the Sorapis amphitheatre.
We will walk around the shore in order to reach the probably most panoramic pic-nic spot in the world. Vertical walls fall into the emaerald water while the "Gods Finger" looks at it. It is a scenery of unparalleled beauty and harmony.
Route back you follow Nr. 215. Some very exposted steches are secured by iron cables , we will encounter very convenient iron ladders that will help us over steep rocks. (abourt 6 hours)
